Dorami 05/12/20 11:02:17 PM #1:	Breath of the Wild is almost the platonic ideal of everything that is wrong with games today. Look at the masterpieces from classic gaming. They have well-structured, thought-provoking levels that guide the player through an action-packed adventure. Even when the game encourages exploration, platforms, doors, and other obstacles are meticulously placed to challenge the player's ingenuity to move forward. And now look at Breath of the Wild. You are dropped into the middle of a huge map. You are barely given any directions or guidance, and you are just there to explore. You have a large number of time-killer quests thoughtlessly sprinkled through the map. Instead of a masterfully crafted world of levels, Breath of the Wild eschews any semblance of progression in the name of "open world". The game designers, having exhausted their talents at level design, now gives the players a world where the players have to design their own levels and progression, and sells it as "freedom". Instead of a small number of magnificent dungeons integrated into the environments and lore of the world, Breath of the Wild has hundreds of mini-quests to fill time. Neither of these games would win in a poll that represented the general population more accurately. GTAV would win easily. I disagree with you though.
