As for that extension, that seems a bit excessive

depends on the active infection rate. if it's high it's not excessive.
if it's low/controlled i gotta agree with that.

and yes there's some people getting fed up with not having at least some sort of normal life :( i get something back on monday as long as the tourists don't ruin it again (no offense to them) they'll be welcome when phase 2 begins.

even better if taco bell allows carry-out again i won't mind sitting 6 feet apart from another and using a face mask.

quarantine isn't about reducing total infections, it's about spreading them out. Testing is the cornerstone to opening backup and making a decision to lockdown for another 3 months today is dumb dumb. It may very well be how long it takes, but it's something you should be evaluating ever 3-5 weeks as more test are being made and initial shortages are wearing down.

Short of a vaccine, the same amount of people are going to be infected, it's about ensuring we don't overburden the hospitals.

The language of all of these has always been or until further notice

instead of just extending it a few weeks every few weeks, just get people used to the idea of being quarantined for a long time. And if something changes they can roll it back early

The L.A. County Board of supervisors - especially supervisor Katherine Barger - has done an even better job than governor Newsom.

If you want to see how a 'public health briefing' should be done, watch their daily press conferences between noon and one Pacific time. Numbers (PPE, deaths, recoveries, tests, etc.), proposals, and policies. Policymakers and doctors. That's it. No CEOs or pillow salesmen.

I'd rate L.A, Mayor Garcetti the same as Newsom (B or B+) during all this but the L.A. County Board of Supervisors gets a sold "A".

Yikes. How are people gonna make it three months if they got no job and aren't receiving unemployment/stimulus checks every week.

Lock down is great but you telling people to stay home and then not help them with their bills/food in anyway. For lower class this could make them homeless or starve.

If people would actually listen we'd be able to end this sooner. You're demanding answers no one has and making the problem worse as a result.

I'm looking at the fact that South Korea was able to deal with this much more quickly than we were.

And IIRC, South Korea's biggest problem dealing with the COVID-19 spread was a church that kept having large gatherings and lots of people got infected because of that. If it weren't for that, I don't think South Korea's bell curve would be anywhere near that large.

49% of the people live in one city in South Korea. They delt with it better because its easier to control a smaller area, mask are already apart of their culture, they were in a better position to start testing, and their government leader isn't a dingleberry implying it's a democratic hoax.

South Korea didn't get through it by just "following the rules"

Trump and other tin foil hats implying it's a democratic hoax are a big reason why people in the US are refusing to follow instructions, though.
