Yeah it's annoying design.

I think the problem is that it's a 'sports game' on its face but the actual mechanics are nothing like one and you basically have to adjust your approach accordingly

I hate how random it is. Like your guy might have 15 shoot, the goalie might have 2 block and if you are unlucky enough you will still miss at point blank

i only ever play enough to get Attack Reels and I abuse the trick where you hire the players with ridic statS at lvl 1 and after every tournament you reset all players levels so enemy teams can never really beat you

i feel like opposition players ALWAYS block at the high end of their estimated block number whereas my players will always hit on the lower end

I can understand why anyone would it like it but like others have said I just love the whole concept of it. They really did a good job of creating a sport inside of an RPG. I just love it. Recruiting players and building your team is awesome

I can agree with this. Theres a lot to like about blitzball. They nailed most of it, im just not particularly fond of the actual game itself though.
