I'm not sure what's more baffling: the idea that Disney decided they need a PotC reboot, or the idea that Johnny Depp not being onboard didn't kill it.

Why do they have to change the genders of existing characters. Why not create something new?

Wasn't the last movie totally focused on Jack Sparrow and nobody cared? I think the franchise needs a shake up or it's done. But it's probably done.

That said, they literally ended the most recent one on a huge ass cliffhanger, and any franchise that does that and then just reboots and says "fuck it" can fuck right off, because that's a dick move. Finish your goddamn stories. Finish what you start.

Mostly because nobody asked for the last one either.

Either way, not our problem. They opened that door themselves. They should finish what they started. Unfinished, abandoned stories are the worst. Especially big, established ones like that.

I only enjoyed the first movie, than the movies got shittier and shittier as they on. Also Johnny Deep schtick just gor more tiresome as well.

With that said, sucks for Johnny Deep in general. He was kicked out for something out of his control and over something he was clearly innocent in.

IIRC the last few movies have done relatively poorly in the US, but have done phenomenally well internationally which is why they're keeping the gravy train rolling.

A Disney+ show is a much better option. All you need is one or two cameos of the original cast, focus on a brand new crew, throw in the mystical shit, and it'll be halfway decent
Much less chance of bombing than a movie without Depp

If it were reversed, if, say, Pirates was originally all female and they changed the cast and included Johnny Depp, I'd still say it'll suck.

Case in point: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sucked, while Willy Wonka was one of my favorite movies ever.

Well, other than the Nolan Batman movies (I didn't like them), those are the exceptions. Maybe the Xmen movies too, though I liked the original cast better.

He's become a parody of himself with his hammy hand gestures, weird enunciations, and awkward staring-off-into-space-like-he's-half-drunk facial expressions. He doesn't just chew the scenery. He swallows it whole.

Not really sure if it would have been as successful without johnny. They did a great job casting all the characters but johnny depp as jack sparrow was a tier above the rest.

They should have just left it as the original trilogy tbh. And any reboots should have the original actors
