But like, TV ads in general are devoid of policy. Take for instance the example "policy" ad they used in that study for Trump, Two Americas. Are we really willing to say that this is discussion of policy? It's just kinda stupid, all political TV ads are essentially about conveying a particular emotional tone.

So gauging how policy driven a campaign is based on ads is just kinda strange.

Meanwhile, if we use this metric for Trump's campaign, we'd have to say that his campaign was highly policy driven! Despite having a one paragraph policy page and public appearances and debates mostly devoid of policy discussion.

I for one hope for a Biden 2020 presidency. It will be hilarious. It will have all the stupidity of W. Bush but still get positive coverage. The spin will be amazing. Good on Biden, he is teaching Americans to have a broader vocabulary!

Ron ejaculated loudly.

I swear she wrote those books with an open thesaurus next to her and didn't know the meanings of the words she used. "It's listed in synonyms, good enough for me"

It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

...probably due to an over-strict English teacher who insisted on never using the same word twice in a sentence, or possibly paragraph.

I thought she was homeless at the time. Probably not when that particular book was written I guess.

Trumps policy lacked depth but he stayed on it. Clintons policy was super deep but her focus was on her. It played it out in advertising, in the debates, and in the media coverage.

I mean, I have issue with the last two, especially since media coverage isn't in her control and there was a particular confluence of obsessions going on.

If you want to argue that point, that her campaign was all about her, rather than policy, and we're saying tv ads are a reliable indicator (which i take issue with, but whatever) then it would stand to reason that her positive ads would be disproportionately about her. But this isn't the case! Her positive ads were predominately "policy", just like Trump's, it's the negative ads where this disproportion is coming from. So really, what the effect you're seeing here is that the Clinton campaign simply ran a disproportionate amount of negative advertising about her opponent, which isn't really any surprise since Trump was her opponent.
