You would be surprised and disappointed at the vast amount of people that have ZERO idea how to manage the smallest sums of money or budget even 3 things over a 30 day period

My in-laws who are life long debtors pay their bills in person the day its due. Every single time. Yeah, I don't even...

Here's a good one. They bought their home 21 years ago, mortgaged at 70k (as in the house is 70k... yes only 70k), how much do you think they owe on it?

I have the money and I wait for the warning almost every time. Right now my consumers is 2 months behind. I just paid my electric a day before they were gonna add a big fee onto it because it was 3 months worth. What about it?

I pay everything online. On the 1st, except gas, because it's not ready on the 1st and I have to wait until the 3rd or 5th...

70k because they pay interest only?

No. They owe 235k. Refinanced twice (borrowed from their own equity). Good stuff.

Only reason we know is they are complaining about upkeep with lawn and everything we are trying to convince them to buy a condo but it turns out they don't even have any equity (well, something like 10k since house is appraised for 245k) at all so there goes that idea. Gotta love life long debtors.

I have had no formal financial education, the most i ever got was a "dont buy dumb shit" from my parents
I never make a budget or anything. But even im aware of what im paying and what im earning. For everyone but the most unfortunate of people it should be no problem to spend less than they earn

one thing that helped me when I worked minimum wage was "ok, this is 100 dollars...so that's like 15-20 hours of work" and if I didn't love the idea of owning whatever it was more than I hated those 15 hours to get it, then I wouldn't buy it.

only thing I don't understand is how people can miss payments when auto-pay is available...Like, set it up next time you make a payment and keep track of your bank account.
