I don't think anyone is to blame for what happened. The story between both sides seems to be Mick couldn't fulfill the deadline, Id/Bethesda respectfully told him about their contingency plan which he said he was okay with LEAD AUDIO DESIGNER CHAD mixing his tracks together but then got mad anyway because it wasn't up to par to his standard quality of work.

I'm not an audiophile or whatever but Doom Eternal's soundtrack is incredible regardless.

Honestly, assuming that the ID post is true, it sounds like it's entirely Mick's fault. He agreed to a deadline, asked for an extension, agreed to a contingency plan, failed to meet all of his deadlines, and then threw ID under the bus when he wasn't happy with what they had to do to deal with his own failures.

I didn't want to assume that outright because we don't know if the dude was actually chasing perfection or not for this game. I do agree with ya though if not for the fact that he's been petty about the topic since release. He's still getting compensated too so whatever, Bethesda's free to hire another musician or just stick with Chad lol.

I don't know enough to understand the distinctions between the game soundtrack and the OST.

Mainly the part about the tracks he delivered being 'too ambient'.

I thought the OST would've largely been the same tracks. Mixed differently, extended and some extra tracks.

Good read. Its a shame Mick probably won't be working with them anymore. I feel like this might have been an issue from both parties, with id contracting Mike a bit far in development for the OST so he might not have had the time needed to do the job properly, and on Mike for taking a contract that he couldn't meet even the extended deadline for. While unfortunate sometimes that's just the way it goes.
