*tries to arrange an item for CARSIDE PICKUP*

"In stock, available tomorrow"

It's 5:30 in the afternoon and you don't close until 9, what the fuck Target

This is what's cracked me up about the "keep everything closed" crowd, the sheer infeasibility of their proposed solutions to the obvious problems such measures create. First you have to order your groceries online, which is a ballache unto itself because of the dodgy quality of most grocery apps and websites. Compounding this, a solid half of the items you want either require substitution of some sort or are just out of stock altogether. This is of course assuming you remembered to punch in everything you were going to go to the store for anyway as half the time I and many others don't know what all we're going to get at the shops unless we're perusing the isles, even with a list in hand. Once that hour or so of misery is done you try to arrange for the curbside pickup, only to find the queue is a mile long or you have to wait anywhere from hours to multiple days in order to get whatever groceries you managed to actually buy. Keep in mind this all still requires you to drive out to the store, which just rubs salt in the wound of not making the sensible choice of just putting a mask on and going for a proper shop in the first place.

Then there's the grocery delivery options which not only charge you for the privilege of manhandling your goods and not checking dates, but also have the audacity to expect a tip. With a week's worth of groceries costing a family about $100-$150, even a 15% tip is a hefty premium, especially considering the current financial climate. What's worse, all these items are still just as potentially infected as if you'd gone out and gotten them yourself, as every Grandma Wipes-Her-Nose is still out there feeling grapefruits and rifling through packs of meat.

And as a delightful little cherry there's everyone's favorite: Amazon, who in spite of having working conditions that would make a Chinese Apple factory blush, still can't manage to deliver Prime goods within a week. If they actually took this time to improve labor relations, then I could understand the delays. But they're working those people like several analogies that would probably get me modded and they still can't deliver the goods this side of the Second Coming of Christ. Meanwhile I can drive my ass to Lowe's and just buy a goddamned bucket and mop in all of 15 minutes.

But nah dawg those supply lines are tight, we just gotta hold out another 12 months till the vaccine hits.

A lot of restaurants are simply not equipped for carry out or delivery, either

I understand the need to stay open during this time, but holy shit as an UberEats guy some places simply cant handle the output

That's not how it works. They have orders that they are shopping for right now that are for later today.
It's also likely that the department that does that isn't open all day.

The store that I work at, for example, starts shopping at 5:30 am for orders that are being picked up around 9 am, and the department stops at 5pm even though the store stays open much later than that.

I see

Its dumb that they advertise it as if its same-day then

Why would anyone arrange a curbside order just to drive over there TOMORROW you know lol

Yeah, they probably should advertise it as "same day as long as it's in by *whatever time*
It's pretty frustrating, but it's how it goes :V
