MuayThai85 05/01/20 5:19:15 PM #1:	, got my wife her visa in under 48 hours, and then on top of that, I am now receiving the CERB benefit which is $500/week for 16 weeks. Didn't think I'd qualify for it at first but they said as long as you made $5,000 in 2019 (even if in another country), you can get it as long as your are currently residing in Canada. Huge help for us to say the least. We left everything in China when we fled in February (going to ship about 100lbs worth of stuff to Canada in a few days, and a friend is trying to sell the rest of our stuff but that isn't going well). We are using the first payment to get my wife her permanent residence and an open work permit. Then we will use the rest to buy a cheap car and cover daily expenses. It also means I don't have to take the first job I can find. I can actually stay safe at home while looking for a job that isn't something in retail. All I see are people on Facebook trashing Trudeau and the government. Ultimate goal was to return to Canada in 3 more years once my daughter was ready to start grade 1.
