I always see interviewees look so out of place when they come in. Everyone is in business casual, and you're rocking a full suit.

if a job won't hire you because you didn't wear a suit, it's probably a warning sign the place isn't a good company to work for anyway

Always best to dress with confidence, in a way that will project that you are taking the interview seriously and are actually trying to create a professional impression.

Jeans and a collared shirt or polo, something along those lines.

jeans are not business casual.

Slacks/dockers, button down shirt (not a polo shirt), nice shoes (not sneakers), is dress casual

The only reason I would not go to an interview for a full time job in a suit is if they explicitly told me not to.

On the flip side if you're a business and interviewing a candidate who doesn't bother to dress professionally for 1 or 2 hours, it could be a warning sign that they don't take your business very seriously.

There is no generally agreed definition of "business casual". One definition of business casual states that it includes khaki pants, slacks, and skirts, as well as short-sleeved polo shirts and long-sleeved shirts, but excludes jeans, tight or short skirts, T-shirts, and sweatshirts.

So yes, jeans are out but polo shirts are fair game.

Depends on the job. I'd always wear at minimum a shirt and tie. I wore a shirt and tie to an interview at subway and got the job on the spot, and the manager specifically said she appreciated me dressing up because she knew I took it seriously.

Nowadays the only jobs i'd interview for would require a full suit. Always better to dress up than down imo.

If possible try to see what people wear at the company. And then dress up no matter what. If it is business casual, go business formal. If its McDonalds, wear black pants and a button up shirt.

Theres ways to dress professionally without a suit.

Being overdressed is the point. If you're hired, then dress down to what everyone else is rocking. Suit conveys that the interviewee is taking this seriously.
