My boss is also a volunteer firefighter so he tends to hear about these things through the woodwork, and he lets us know that the body shop attached to one of our good customer's repair shops is on fire. There's lots of flammable stuff in a body shop, so I call my guy to make sure he's okay and to find out what's going on.

He tells me one of his techs said smoke was billowing in the bathroom, and it smelled like burning wood. He called the fire department, ran outside to warn the shop next door, and... there was a smoke machine pumping smoke into the sewage system.

Apparently they'd been having issues with a foul odor that would pop up every once in a while, so the body shop next door decided to do a smoke test to see if there was a leaky sewage line in the building. Guess they didn't fill anyone else in on the plan.
