I don't like being in the spotlight, so I use the internet to find discussions about interesting topics, not to share stuff about my life (beyond when its relevant to a conversation I find interesting).

I find message boards to be a better medium for that than social media.

I'm on social media but pretty inactive. I think it makes people insecure when you don't get the kind of interaction you want from it. It makes me feel that way sometimes which is why I don't like it much.

true. it makes a lot of people second guess how many "friends" they really have.
