I recently made a topic about getting accepted on a full tuition scholarship to a conservatory in NY for my Masters in Music Performance.
Well, the concrete financial plan I had as of a month ago has now been ruined. About $7000 in gigs/performances I would have made from March to July is now gone, so I dont know if Ill be able to pay to relocate. Which was already a fear, just now made concrete by the fact that the potential assistance I had fell through. Trying to figure it out still and explore viable options, how much Ill be able to make at a grocery store until then, etc., but Id be lying if I said I wasnt pretty crushed right now. I suppose my best chance is if my start date gets postponed and I have more time to save. coddle me, ce --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Surely they would be amenable to postponing the commencement date?
I sincerely hope you are able to follow your dreams. This world could do with more music students and fewer MBAs. --- Ring the bells that still can ring. ... Copied to Clipboard!

A loan is my Option A atm. My plan is to already take out federal loans for help with rent, etc. while there so I can practice 9 hours a day like I need to and not be bogged down working, so I need to get myself comfortable with that notion and make sure its viable. Though its not a guarantee Id get approved and get the money by when I need it

Does grad school for music make a big difference? In classical music, certainly. It means better programs, better teachers, stipends, more job opportunities, and a chance to really refine what youre doing so you can go and succeed in auditions that you normally wouldnt have if not a student. For example: I can justify to myself taking out student loans for living with a $100k full tuition scholarship because I can focus solely on practicing and getting good enough for the next two years, which is something I couldnt do if not in a Masters. --- ...
