I thought about eating a 30 minute meal but 30 mins was nothing, I only made it to the second part after the first checkpoint before encountering black lizalfos and dying. How are people doing these sections?

Nah, master mode isn't bad aside from the first set of trials. Ironically the late trials are easier than the early ones.

This is true.

The biggest tip I can give for both modes is, bomb every tree you see. Collect the lumber and cook it one at a time. It's boring but it adds up.

Assuming "first checkpoint" means one of those rest floors:

If I'm thinking of the room you're talking about, the easiest way to kill those lizalfos is to stun then with the lightning rod you get in an earlier room, and keep switching between weapons to keep them stunned.

Another, more general tip:

You'll be getting a shit ton of arrows if you bother to look for them, so feel free to kill things from a safe distance with head shots, especially in later trials. Just keep a handful for the occasional hinox.
