What kind of class/build is good for a first time light and/or dark side playthrough? And which side should I choose for a first time playthrough?

If I like the game enough I might do a second playthrough with the opposite side, so suggestions for class/builds for both sides would be great

Also just any general tips for missable stuff or any mods to install would be really cool too, I like to get the most content out of a first playthrough if possible

Scout is a great starting class. Don't ever go beyond level 5 with your starting class, if you can get through the first planet at a lower level than that even better, just don't hit the button to level up until you become a Jedi

I wouldn't worry about that your first time through. Yeah, it's best to stay lower level, but it's not like you'll be completely crippled if you don't.

You can actually manage to never go beyond level 3, but it's pretty fucking hard.

I went Scout/Jedi Guardian & it was nice as the Scout helped boost my skills & lost very little combat ability compared to the Soldier (+ better Implant perks, as I recall).

I've done it as a level 4 Scout with all my stat points in Wisdom and Charisma because I was playing a dark side Consular. Destroying everything I encountered with Force lightning made it all worthwhile

Same for the Wookie who comes with a bowcaster. He has insane strength, he's way better as a melee fighter.

In general, the game isn't too hard so it's fine to mess around without a preplanned build.

Make sure you go to Yavin Station early and after every planet, also sell your items at Yavin Station. Before you buy anything beat the merchant 10 times at Pazaak for a 20% discount.
