I probably haven't reached said moon(s) yet. I just cleaned up the 14 main kingdoms before finally journeying to the Dark Side. Currently have 850 moons with only Dark Side and Darker Side yet.

Considering how badly the first fight in Dark Side just toasted me, I might have only now reached the true Mario Odyssey.

The one that I was thinking of particularly is a bad one in Bowser's Castle (spoiler tag for others who may be reading the topic but haven't played the game - not you since you've been there!). It's a music collecting note one that I remember being ludicrously hard to do with the pro controller. Might reaaally be the only one that bad in the game! But I know there are a few bird moons that joy cons can help with too.

That was... one of the funnest single player games I've ever had the joy of playing. What an absolute masterclass of gaming design. Does it hit the unparalleled highs of its rival, BotW? Probably not, but it also may be well and truly flawless. I honestly can't think of a single major fault.

There's the moon rock moon in Desert Kingdom where you have to use the speed flower and run sideways on a wall. Controls for that one were pretty lame and unfun.

I'm one of the people who really didn't enjoy Odyssey and much preferred Galaxy. I feel like they focused too much on adding moons, and it felt too much like checking off boxes to try to go for 100%. The fact that there were so many moons that were easy to get or copy/pastes of moons on other levels just felt like they cheapened the feeling of getting a cool/difficult moon. Also they locked some of the moons behind game completion why?

I also died like 80% of the way through Darker Side of the Moon and realized there was no way in hell I would go through that level from the beginning again. Not really a fan of test of endurance levels where a death means you have to go through something that takes 10+ mins again.

I prefer Galaxy just because the movement through space just feels so good but Odyssey is great fun, too.

BTW, fuck the jump rope minigame. Even the cheesy way of doing it with the scooter requires a good amount of work setting up.

I'd include the RC car minigame as well. Especially since my most recent playthrough, I somehow managed it with a drifting right joycon.

odyssey's highs are outstanding, but at a certain point, feels like a really disparate collection of mini-games
and if you're going for 100% it very much feels like checking off boxes (that's quite literally what the toadette moons are)

it's a great game, movement is the best it's ever been, rules for speedrunning, but still lacks some of the soul that makes the best mario games better, imo
