I read it in school, and was disturbed by the kids dropping a boulder on a kid's head and murdering him. I guess it prepares us for modern society. I don't even know anymore. That bar is kinda low.

To Kill A Mockingbird is a few years newer.

In Cold Blood (Capotes famous book) came out in the mid 60s. There were other newer books too I had to read but they were more flavor of the month. --- Raised on VHS, anchored to DVD ...
