The lockdowns were never intended to be "till there's a vaccine". The point of the lockdown was to "flatten the curve" to ensure hospitals don't get overwhelmed. The same number of people are going to be infected eventually, until enough people have gotten it to have herd immunity.

The goal of the lockdown was to spread that number of infections out over a longer period of time so that the hospitals could keep up.

Everyone has seemingly forgotten that and nobody has the guts to say it. The curve has been flattened. It's time to reopen. Yes there will be more infections, there's going to be infections of this shit for years until there's a vaccine, that's how viruses work.

Nobody wants to deal with that reality. We are literally hiding in our homes from reality. There isn't going to be a vaccine for months if not years, there's no other option than reopening and facing things.

This spike is going to happen eventually. There is no avoiding it, that's my whole point. When you reopen, there's going to be a spike. You're postponing it, you're not eliminating it.

It's always been to prevent overwhelming the medical infrastructure. We're nowhere near at that time yet. Yes, the curve has been flattened but right now hospitals would still be overwhelmed. We can't erase our progress now.

The mortality rate is irrelevant. Whether it's super low or super high, you can't hide from it. SHutting down the world for months and months is not an option, we can't pretend like it is.

I ask again, what is the endgame? There has to be an endgame.

You don't open up right when the curve flattens, that has been explained since the very beginning. Some places are fucking peaking right now. This is a large country, not everyone was going to peak at fucking once. The idea was never to wait until we see the curve and then open shit up, because that causes another spike. Jesus, don't act like you know what you are talking about.

Who said months and months? It's been a fucking month. People like you act like we've been shelled up for years. It's been weeks. The end game is to wait until we flatten the curve enough and see a decline, and then open up. Just like every other country that is now open.

The endgame is all decisions made about the issue are made by people in power who in that given moment make the decision based on their best interests.

The end game is to crash the economy, which they found the perfect scapegoat to blame it on.

With that, governments would be begged by people to save them from the whole situation and become big brother.

The 5G that's to be implemented will be used to track everyone with mass surveillance, like China's government is doing to their citizens.

Orwell's 1984 would become reality.

My opinion so feel free to agree or disagree.

One of the scenario's listed,Lock Step looks similar to what already happen and may, while the date is off, most of it seems to be predictive with a few things different.

The best course of action at this point is once the curve flattens for a given area, reopen the area with guidelines, and those at high risk are advised to engage in contact at their own risk.

Billionaires aren't the issue. The issue is the lady who works at the nail salon and it's closed and she can't work and thus can't pay her bills. The issue is with the mom and pop store that has no income for months and months.

Do people not grasp that a lot of lower and middle class people are going to be crushed by these lockdowns? Far worse than the billionaires.

The endgame is martial law, communism, facism, people losing literally all of their rights and freedoms and real life literally turning into 1984... according to donald supporters at least. I'm not sure if that's valid though, because according to 1984, we've always been at war with East Asia, which means that we would be now, and when I Google it, I can't find any articles about any current war with East Asia.

Why are you asking us when your local government has likely set guidelines. The general idea is to limit infection to the point where available resources and tracking can handle localized outbreaks and isolations. Were still in the beginning stages of flattening the curve. Predictions currently point to a seasonal curve with the virus returning in force in the winter, and we need to be prepared to handle it in an intelligent more focused way so that we arent shutting everything down again to spare hospitals from getting overwhelmed.

So accept it or stfu, this information and plan of action at this point is common knowledge. Smarter and more experienced people than anyone here have laid this all out for you, and thinly veiling complaints as confusion make you look like a Trump supporting nincompoop.

What about people that like and thrive on live socialization? I'm an introvert arguing the other side here, but "stay away form people" to them is as torturous to them as "go socialize" is to me.

It's not difficult. It's jsut accepting that people are different and need and value different things. It's a lesson in children's cartoons going back generations.

EDIT: and for those wanting to argue this, I propose a challenge: No entertainment internet (online shopping for food or paying bills is okay), no video games, no posting to or reading social media, no streaming anything but basic news, just you in your living area surviving, and do this for at least 2 weeks. See if your "life at all costs" holds up when it's your dopamine hits and hobbies that are taken away from you.

This chart is way wrong. Quarantine measures reduce and delay the peak infection count and also delays the end of the disease spread, while the total number of cases is the same or only marginally reduced. This shows the no-action peak being later and the total number of infections being impossibly higher.

It says new cases on the y-axis, not total cases.
