Almost all of the arguments from people who actually want to re-open right away are from people who are financially fine and want their creature comforts. Check out those idiotic protests. "I need a haircut," "my body my choice," "I want to go to the beach." - these people want YOU to risk YOUR life so THEY can be a little more comfortable. There are problems with the economy in short term and long term, but there are ways to address these. Fix small business loans (very few businesses have over 500 employees), consider a needs based stimulus package, and figure out some form of rent/mortgage forgiveness. Staggered reopenings should happen, localized to places with a sustained level of new coronavirus cases. But reopening "the economy" really just means "forcing the most vulnerable people back into the most dangerous jobs." Already restaurant workers take honestly unneeded risks to privileged customers, opening sitting spaces would be a disaster for everyone. Same for more risky businesses like gyms and theaters. Again, I am not against staggered reopenings.
