The three finest examples of an open world from this generation, but which is the best?

Witcher > Zelda > Red Dead

Witchers world is so believable. Novigrad is the best city in any game ever and the open countryside is so breathtaking and varied.

Zelda isnt as impressive with what actually fills it but its a close second because it conveys a sense of exploration and wonder unlike any other game ever.

Red Dead 2 is a distant third. Whilst technically impressive and initially stunning, it quickly reveals itself as overly mechanical and soulless, ironically much like Westworld

BOTW >>> Red Dead >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Witcher 3

Witcher 3. The other two are still great games but have way too many little things that bring it down.

I guess Witcher. I only played a few hours of Zelda and didn't get past the introductory mission in Red Dead. I'll come back to those...eventually

Red Dead Redemption 2, for sure.

it's just a really well made, beautiful, and fully realized game world.

and while BotW is a great game, where the world is fun to traverse due to the paraglider, its world feels really empty.
