4 was better than 3. People need to stop looking at it with rose tinted glasses

It was garbage. 4 at least attempted to right some of the wrongs it committed

Aside from Hardcode Mode ive never understood what makes NV better than 3.

3 has a way better game world.

3 has a way better game world.

Better writing, better story, better characters, and better gameplay, especially in regards to dialogue and character building

Okay aside from that, what did 3 do better than 4?

Didn't cramp settlement building down our throat. Actually allowed you to play as a villain.
Didn't force settlement quests down your throat.

Actually allowed you to play as a villain.

Fallout 3's approach to karma / morality was more often a dichotomy between 'idiot' and 'dick' than 'good' and 'evil,' especially in the main quest. You don't actually get to play as a villain: you are shoehorned into the good guys' questline, and are only occasionally given opportunities to dick them over for little to no reason.

As far as the side content goes, if you like the mustache-twirling fare of selling children into slavery for no compelling reason other than a few measly caps and the sake of it, more power to you. Personally I appreciate that Bethesda at least attempted a more nuanced approach to morality in Fallout 4, even though their efforts were laughable at times and they ultimately tried and failed to ape NV's structure.

I didnt really think any of those were much different or better than 3. NV felt like a gigantic DLC.

I have a fantastic PC, but New Vegas always crashes on me. Yes, I've tried those patches and shit. However, I do agree with you. New Vegas, when I played it the 360, was a really great game.
