If you read Grapes of Wrath at all, you know the general plot.

Great Depression main characters trying to survive on odd jobs, glimmer of hope is displayed about midway throughout the story but the ending is downright depressing and a little ambiguous.

I'm not teaching right now but if I ever did I probably wouldn't assign that book to read if I can help it. The overall message is very easy to get lost on

Just read it. It's like 100 pages and will take you a few hours. I gave it 4/5 on my goodreads
