Ive thought about building a PC for a few years, and now that Im in a solid place financially, Im gonna use my tax return to do it.
I got no idea what Im doing from a technology stand point though. Im going to be doing more research of course, but any guidance you guys can give is super appreciated. Budget Id say is $1,000-$1,200. Im not looking for a top of the line PC or anything. My main benchmark is that I want to be able to play through the Blackpits fight in Divinity Original Sin II without my frames coming to a standstill. --- You don't have to put my thighs in the microwave. ... The only hard part is applying pea sized thermal gel. You'll be fine just youtube it.

theres a ton of guides out there, even a spefic build with a part list you can follow completely along with. for your first build thats what id do, find a guide. follow it to a t. that way you have no surprises.
