The saying about men complaining when they get sick from viruses like the cold and flu do have weight in them. They are more suspectible to worse symptoms then women, and that is from unhealthier life style practices (not washing hands enough), life style health differences (smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol) as well as not having as much estrogen then women which protects them from corona viruses.

For covid 19 alone, twice as many men than women are in the ICU! Everyone take care, but especially men. You aren't invincible. Now is the time to quit smoking and eat healthier.

Went to a talk a few years ago given by a pathologist who had a special interest in germ theory. He was talking about this too, as a factor in women outliving men, even once you stripped out lifestyle.

Nope. Man flu is a real issue. Men simply get hit harder on average by certain illnesses than women even after accounting for underlying health conditions.

...as well as not having as much estrogen then women which protects them from corona viruses.

This is the only part that has any basis in reality. Something about estrogen boosts overall immune system response which makes illness less difficult to cope with.

Do you have any studies on that? From my perspective women seem to have more health issues and get sick more easily than men do.

Can't link to actual studies as they are behind paywalls, but here's one article that sums up studies regarding this issue:

And another that links the above findings with the coronavirus:

Yes because of their short urethra. But what's your point? Women survive infections at a significantly higher rate then men due to hormones and then lifestyle differences.

It's facts. Men in general get hit harder and far outnumber women in casualties

Don't take it the wrong way... Anedocotal evidence doesn't represent the general population. So many factors like personal hygiene, preexisting immunocompromised conditions and line of work could play into yours for the few women in your life that you witnessed.

The average man is less hygienic and engages in unhealthier lifestyle habits (smoking, unhealthier diet/higher blood pressure and cholesterol) than the average woman. Then there's the hormones. At least you can make a difference with life style changes.
