Maybe not the outdoor coasters, but I kind of get wary of the indoor ones since I'm tall. I always fear that I'll slam into a horizontal pole that I won't even see since it's dark inside...

Because it's incredibly unlikely. There were 52 deaths between 1990 and 2004, or about 4 per year. It's hard to find recent numbers, but it's safe to say that roller coaster safety has gotten better since then.

I've also seen the number 1 in 750 million chance of dying on a roller coaster.

they absolutely should not have let that woman ride, even if it meant embarrassing her by asking her to get out. one click is absolutely not good enough, that shit needs to go click click click until it's firmly squeezing you into your seat

I was on that ride like a week before this happened. It's a perfectly safe coaster. Much better than it was before they renovated it. Fat people shouldn't get on any coasters.

yeah i read that it was almost completely the ride operators's fault. I dont' think they can or will prosecute in those situations though

I just had to look it up, cause apparently the Medusa is only in the California Six Flags, but the one I went to was Great Adventure in New Jersey.

Apparently, the original Medusa was opened in Great Adventure in 1999, which was the first floorless roller coaster in the world. However, in 2008, it was renamed to the Bizarro. Same rollercoaster, different theme. It has tons of loops and was one of the longest roller coaster rides of its time.

I enjoyed Nitro for the novelty of it, because at the time, it had the record for the tallest rollercoaster in the world if I am remembering correctly. It was okay, but just not my preferred roller coaster style. The problem is that so much of the roller coaster ride is spent in the "going up" part, and the anticipation built as you get to the top. Then the drop happens and it's over pretty quickly.

Loop rollercoasters are just nonstop speed and rarely slow down like that. I feel like I get more out of the ride.

Oh I moved out of New Jersey almost 20 years ago. Haven't been to Great Adventure since. I really miss going on roller coasters, though. I may have to start riding them again once we leave our houses.
