the flashforward thing already showed the kid putting him in the body bag, so we knew what was up, and it made that scene up to his death more tense.

maybe it's some kinda fake out, but idk.

and I'm hoping Jobin ends up being the final, main villain over one of the rockmen, since he's a lot more interesting than any of them, and I'm also hoping that after this head doctor guy, there will be no more rockmen villains.

but for the timeline, does it go up from parts 1-6 (OT), and end of 6-8 (NT)?

How far along is part 8? I tried getting into it early and it just didn't draw my interest at all, but I know JoJo Parts tend to become much more compelling once there is a central villain to follow.

it's at 95 chapters, so far. and I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like it's at its final stretch

He didnt. Its the same universe except without him. All of parts 1-5 still happened. Jotaro still exists. Meanwhile, SBR continuitys Jotaro is Yoshikage Kira.

I thought that there were some differences, though, like Jotaro being in Jolyene's life, and her being in a relationship with Anasui.

and is Jotaro really Kira? for some reason, I missed that.

I guess Kira is at that point in the genealogy and he's a man of the sea but I dont think an attempt at explicit comparison was made in the story

Those are presumably things that happened due to Puccis absence.
Holy Joestar is Holy Joestar-Kira in this universe.

thanks again for the answers, and I guess you're all correct - I was remembering the family tree we see in Jojolion, and it makes no mention of Joseph, Jotaro, etc.

Yeah, the family line kind of split in Japan. Although, Josefumi is also kind of Jotaro on the Kujo side and somehow also has a star-shaped birthmark even though his parents dont seem to have anything related with the Joestars so presumably he and Kira are related somehow.
