Central Cali is fairly cheap because the weather sucks and theres no water.

If you mean south away from the coast, Im assuming it would be affordable but I dont know. The further you get from water, the cheaper it is.

San Bernadino (might have spelled wrong) is cheap but is also terrible to live in. I hear Fresno is also pretty cheap but again you don't want to live there.

If you are looking for something just cheaper than LA but still livable, maybe Sacramento? It's the capital city and it's located inland. I haven't been but I heard it was nice enough of a city, kinda boring though.

Nah he means like Imperial County probably. I've been there before when I was visiting the Salton Sea (I have family in Palm Desert). It's basically just a giant farm and feels like Mexico lite. Seems nice though.

In fact actually know that I think about it rent in Palm Springs isn't THAT bad. There are some nicer parts I looked around at apartments there one time when I was still in college there were some studios for about $800 bucks and some one bedrooms for around $1000. This was also a few years ago though so maybe prices have gone up? idk

If youre a Southerner then youll probably like Northern California, specifically the area between Oregon & north of Sacramento. Its cheap, hot, theres walmarts, & meth.

Super expensive. Honestly Palm Springs/Palm Desert might be the best options. I lived in Palm Desert during my "year off" of college. I got lucky though, I rented a room in a nice house that belonged to this nice old lady for $500 a month. Included utilities and internet and all that. It was a fun year.

Inland Empire area (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties) aren't too expensive and there are some decent cities within it.

Ukiah and Clearlake are pretty cheap. And you get access to plenty of meth and moonshine.

Basically the parts of california you want to live in are crazy expensive and the parts of california that aren't as expensive, well you're probably better off in Arizona or Nevada at that point.

Unless you don't mind living in the slums or being homeless because if you're gonna be homeless it might as well be by the beach.

I wouldn't recommend asking about expensive cities, because you're going to get answers from people that live in those expensive cities, and they are going to tell you not to move there even though they live there. And they will brag about living in those cities.

There are plenty of horrible drug infested crapholes inland that you could rent a trailer in for a fairly low price. Your quality of living is going to be in the pits though.

As far as cities that you've heard of, no. There will be nowhere affordable that you've heard of. Try Lake Elsinore and such.
