I've used three different thermometers, one orally, one in the ear, and one on the forehead, and they all say at least 101. It started at 99 around 1 PM EST, went up to 100 at about 5 PM, and now the thermometer I trust the most says 101.2. I've had a cough for almost two weeks, but it was a productive cough so I assumed it was just my post nasal drip that does this every year, but lately it's become more dry. My face burns like a motherfucker, I close my eyes and it feels like I have a hot washcloth over my eyes.

I have various other concerning symptoms, but so far no shortness of breath or sore throat.

So yeah, if this isn't gone by tomorrow then tomorrow should be a fun day. Given my family situation, I may need to get on all fours to get a test. I won't leave the doctors office without a test.

Damn, that sucks. Sounds scary. Hopefully, you will most likely be able to get a test, as things have gotten too crazy up here yet. Honestly, I would try for it tomorrow if it is possible.

Stay strong. Keep us informed.

I'm starting to feel it in my chest, but I don't know if that's a symptom or not. My throat is getting raspy without and sore throat. I know it starts as an upper respiratory problem, so I assume chest congestion is a sign.

Yeah I'm not reaching a point of certainty yet, everything that is usually out there is still out there. Despite have anxiety problems my entire life, I'm pretty collected at the moment.

I'm just happy I don't leave the house. That doesn't help my mom or brother, but I've only been in contact with 4 people who don't live in my house in the past two weeks. Two giddy teen girls who packed my car with groceries, my neighbor who brought over flavored water, and a CVS drive thru guy. I'm hoping if the worst happens, I'm hopeful I didn't spread it too much.

Do you live with elderly? If so, I understand why you can't return.

But don't let the fearmongering get to you. Keep your mouth shut and cough into your sleeve.

If you got a mask, wear it just incase.

My mom is probably considered elderly, though I would never tell her that lol. I live with two high risk people with my mom being the bigger concern. I've started avoiding them, I'm in my room and I have a mask on just in case.

I know the answer my mom would say, I stay and she takes care of me. She's an Italian mother and a retired RN, I'd need to knock her out to keep her away. I'm honestly not sure though, I'd need to know my options. I have no idea where I can go to isolate myself from the world, I guess my 5th wheel is an option. It's sitting in a field, I should be able to stay by myself there but close enough to the world to get help if things get worse.

That's what I'm hoping for. Do you know how quickly it would take once you started developing symptoms before you start having shortness of breath? Is it something early on, or does it work it's way up to that. I'm nervous that the chest congestion is the first step of shortness of breath.

Honestly some tylenol has lowered my fever a little, so I'm hopeful that's a sign I have something else.

I think shortness of breath is a late symptom, basically day before being hospitalized. That's if your symptoms are severe. A lot of people have mild symptoms. Honestly I might just call my doctor, you likely need a Frontline Healthcare worker's opinion. A lot of medical staff hasn't been directly exposed.

I really hate to do this, and in very rare circumstances would I do this, but at this time, if you have fevers and cough, there is a very high likelihood of you having covid. Even if the test was negative I would still say you probably have it. You should just act as if you do, self quarantine, be very meticulous with hygiene and where you go, stay away from others as much as possible. Take every precaution.

That's the one thing I plan on doing. Even if things ease up, I'm going to get into contact with my doctor connections and my family doctor just to see what it could have been and if they think I should get checked out. As I said tylenol has eased the fever a bit, it's now 100.7. I'm not uncomfortable in any way, things still feel minor, but I will get them checked out just to protect the people I live with.

Yeah I am planning on self isolating regardless if I end up going to the doctors or not. Even if I wake up perfectly fine, my guess is the cough will still be there and I won't risk it. I rarely left the house before the cough, I'm being even more strict on that now.

Keep an eye on your temp. 101 is certainly fever territory. Even a temp of 100 can be normal given what you're doing at the time environment and physical activity can make it go up

Hopefully if it is covid, you'll just have some slow days and push on through

Update.

I woke up feeling better, but as the day goes on the problems go up a little. Fever has come down quite a bit, I have been sticking to 100 give or take .1 degree. So nothing to be that concerned over considering a mild case has people much higher.

I had a phone call with my doctor and either New York doesn't have enough tests and since my symptoms aren't that bad they won't test me, or she thinks I have something else completely. She said it was weird to have a respiratory problem and then this late into it to start spiking fevers, which leads me to believe she thinks it's not connected to the cough and I am dealing with two different things. She had me get a chest x-ray for my lungs, and we are working from there. No idea. She prescribed me a z pack and told me to get some rest and fluids. I'm just going to avoid everyone including my family until the results come in, and if they look ok then I'll just be avoiding that outside world all together to be on the safe side.

So no real answers, either positive or negative. At this point though I'm fairly certain I don't have coronavirus, but I'll treat the world like I do just in case.

Yes to the first two, not to the last one. The thing is with my anxiety, diarrhea and nausea are things I deal with often so no way to tell.

I don't think I have it, but it's easy to be in the world today and be paranoid about common ailments. Thanks to all of you for talking to me last night, it help keep my shit together until I could think more clearly.
