Yes, obviously the best way to practice social distancing is to reduce the number of buses running.

Oh wait, that just causes overcrowding.

Democrats in charge have no idea what they're doing (exception of Lt. Gov. Josh Green). This is basic common sense like wow.

Meh, public transportation is socialism. Less socialism means more freedom.

I am confused as to why Target moved up their closing time from 11PM to 9PM. Just increases the density during operations of work.

So they can disinfect the store and not have the employees stay late.

It's probably just issues with having enough people working. Closing earlier means they can start getting ready for the next day earlier.

My brother works for Target and is getting more hours than before the virus thanks to so many employees quitting or going on "extended leave" (where they basically pick up a shift every couple months so they can get back to work without being rehired).

I mean the best way to practice social distancing is to stay inside and not take the bus.

Yeah, but buses are more likely used by the poorer population, which means they're probably unable to work from home or simply stop working until things blow over.

A lot of public transit systems are reliant on fares for their funding, and that money has understandably dried up of late.

There still will be significantly less people riding the buses throughout the day, so less buses would need to run in general. You probably have to cut the number of buses too as a decent number of drivers will not be showing up to work.

How would canceling bus routes be disadvantageous? A bus is a place where like 20-30 people gather in like 200 square feet and share air.

It also gives people greater capability to go places they shouldn't be going.

  • Buses, subways, etc need to be disinfected often
  • Loss or personnel, due to either contracting the virus, being in a vulnerable group or just straight-up quitting
  • This leads to less people to clean the vehicles also
  • Less money being made off fares so costly public transportation systems are under even greater financial strain

Even after it was spelled out for him that the whole point of reducing the buses running was for people to not use public transportation nearly as much, he still doesn't get it. But that's vintage HiddenRoar for ya

Thanks, cause that was exactly the response I was waiting for:

Yes, it's worth getting outraged that cities wants to save a few pennies here and there during a pandemic.

Just like California selling off their ventilator and mask stockpile for pandemics, on Ebay in 2011, because it was just sitting unused
