Went the majority of my life without knowing it was offensive until someone who wasn't one informed me. Never actually heard one's opinion on the matter and would love to. But either way, I think the entire koncept of slurs is stupid. Unlike "repulsive" or "stupid" majority of them are made up words with no meaning besides "I want to offend you". Hell, a lot of them are shortenings of things people actually are, like Japanese or Pakistani.
