Some of that is due to nostalgia, like I will only play Metal Gear or Crash Bandicoot with the Playstation controller. But I will only play Tony Hawk with the Playstation controller for functional reasons. Your thumbs have zero risk of interacting with each other and your natural placement on your hands on the controller makes it feel more comfortable to hold over time; Ive never getting hand cramps using an Xbox controller, and I say this as someone who completely shit on the Xbox One controller at the beginning of this gen. Honestly it wouldve probably been better if the DualSense just copied the sticks from Xbox; it already feels like theyre taking inspiration from all the areas except the ones that matter most. (seriously what the fuck is that PS button). Im sure its no coincidence that these Scuf controllers also feature asymmetrical designs as well. The DualShock stick layout ultimately exists solely because of how they added analog sticks to the original PS1 controller in a later hardware refresh and how the controller design hasnt really evolved since then. The DualShock stick layout ultimately exists solely because of how they added analog sticks to the original PS1 controller in a later hardware refresh and how the controller design hasnt really evolved since then.
