no. it's still possible to find roms. it's not quite as widespread as it was like 10 years ago. but they are still around

granted, most of the reputable sites took down a whole bunch of stuff so pretty much all thats left is a minefield of sketchy download our download client to download your ROM, pay no attention to the actual download link in 2-point font hidden under a banner ad type sites >_>

Roms are digital. They can be copied and stored.

Nintendo has no idea how many copies of their roms exist on the internet. Their efforts are in vain if you ask me.

In response to their corporate greed I modded my Wii and now play the majority of their library on that very system.

there's one that got all of its roms "removed" but they just hid the links and you need a firefox add-on to access them. has roms for just about everything, but i'm not sure about the newest generation.

At the very least, Google search results have changed recently. It used to be that if you typed in the name of a game, at least one or two of the links would be to shady downloads. Those are gone now.

They aren't going to be able to get them all and they know it.

I think they are just trying to have their roms removed from some of the bigger sites to show the rom community that they are taking legal action.

They know they'll never wipe ROMs from the internet, they do it for legal purposes.

What? I'm pretty sure you can still download games from the Wii Shop Channel if you've previously bought/downloaded them.

I downloaded a demo not too long ago that I previously had years ago with no issues.

One of my co-workers threw a fit when that happened, saying "Fuck Nintendo for getting rid of emulators and ROMs!"

Which was ridiculous because A. Nintendo is well within the legal right to crack down on them and B. You literally cannot get rid of digital media, especially when so many people have backups.

Just the ROMs though, emulators don't use any proprietary Nintendo code or hardware.

In fact, wasn't Nintendo called out for using emulators without permission to emulate their own games?
