Starscream's my favorite, but Soundwave's voice is just too great.

Yes, but even back then I knew it was pretty cheesy. Plus it always shat all over Starscream even though he was the best character.

Absolutely.

Optimus Prime, Megatron, the Dino Bots, that kickass soundtrack in the movie. (Sing the opening line, I know you want to.) That duh-na-nuh-nuh cue when they went to a commercial break. All great stuff.

No. The voice actors are good, the theme music and sound effects is good, the art is classic, the animation wasnt good but was ok for the time. But at the end of the day, the stories werent good, generally speaking. I do still hold a soft spot for transformers: the movie though.

I'm a huge fan of the franchise and G1 is among my favorites. The original film is my all time favorite as well.

I own over 800 TF toys, several dvds and other memorabilia. I've also been making digibashes from the toys over the last 14 years (see sig).

I own over 800 TF toys,

I never owned a Megatron toy or a proper Optimus Prime. I had some kind of smaller-than-usual version of Prime which wasted no time in losing one of his hands.

Good times.

It was technically before my time, but I still had reruns.

I'm 36, started watching the cartoon when I was 2. Ultra Magnus was my first TF toy that I got for my 3rd birthday two days after the movie hit theaters. Although I didn't see it until ot came to VHS. I rented it all the time. Now I own like 5 copies.

That's how I feel. I'm old enough to remember most 80s cartoons, but a lot of them weren't very good. The brands themselves were great, but as far as writing goes, the shows were second (or sometimes third) to the creativity of the toy lines and comics.

Working in cartoons was considered a career death sentence in the 70s and 80s for a reason. They didn't focus on great writing in cartoons until the very late 80s/90s.
