They're specific prebuilts

I can get the Ryzen 7 and the 2070 Super in a config as well, but it's from a different site

the gtx 1060 which came out 5 years ago is still a recommended spec for new games.

so i think a 2070 super will last you just fine.

I don't know much about AMD processors and cards, but the first one certainly will. I have an i7-4790, 16 GB of RAM and just bought a 2070 SUPER and everything runs so beautifully.

I'm worried about the SSD size. 480gb seems kind of meh

I guess I can always buy another one down the road?

480 is not great, that's true. But yes, adding hard drives and SSDs is one of the easiest things to do.

The first one will be able to play new games for years. The second one I'm not sure because I don't know much about the RX 5700 XT.

Both of these are great options, but there are obvious caveats to both of them. The 2070 super is on par with a 2080, and has the superior suite of graphics drivers and tools available. The 5700 XT is a better card, but AMD's graphic drivers are a bit sketchy. The i7 would be better for gaming, but multi-threaded processing power gives the crown to the Ryzen 7 3700x. All things equal, I would probably go with the 3700x because the two systems are relatively balanced, but this one has the better storage option. It's hard to tell unless we know exactly what each system has. Not all storage options are created equal.

Edit: I got my cards mixed up. The 5700xt is on par with the 2060 Super more than the 2070. I remember hearing that AMD specifically wrote drivers that favoured more popular games, giving them better framerates.

If you're used to console gaming, then you don't want something that will be finicky as fuck. AMD's drivers are enough of an irritant that I'd push for the 2070 Super. There's no way you can combine the 2 builds in some fashion, is there?

AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
GeForce RTX 2070 Super
1TB SSD+2TB HDD
16GB DDR4 3600

Sounds like a boss ass system to me.

AMD graphics cards are great. In terms of raw power, they're great cards. It's the drivers that are largely the issue with them, and are inferior from a software suite perspective.

https://static.techspot.com/articles-info/1902/bench/1440p.png
https://static.techspot.com/articles-info/1902/bench/4K.png

RX 5700 XT is 6% slower at 1440p
RX 5700 XT is 9% slower at 4K

so 2070 super > 5700xt

the smaller ssd space is bad but not enough to choose a slightly weaker gpu over it and storage space is probably what depreciates the fastest in value of all hardware components.

the price difference between the gpus when bought separately is also pretty big(2070 is more expensive) and the extra savings probably went towards the SSD in the amd build.

if you don't really like touching anything inside the computer, you'll get the most bang out of the intel setup.

Also both will play new games at very high settings at 1440p and 4K for a while. The 2nd build is more future proof due to hyperthreading and the future cpus with more cores on the ryzen platform

It also uses less watts than the 9700 despite being stronger

No they preform well and offer more bang for buck, but driver releases are slower. Never so slow or bad to sour me away however. The only people I've seen rightfully complain about AMD cards are the ones with multi displays, eyefinity does suck and still hasn't been perfected.

option 2 is great. The 2070 Super is a bit better but the difference isn't great enough to overcome the other factors in option 2's favor. Thats at 1080p also. Higher than that I wouldn't go with either of these cards. And people need to quit downgrading AMD drivers. AMD's drivers aren't bad at all, not sure how that meme became widespread.

I'd go for the 2070 due to DLSS.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2020-control-dlss-2-dot-zero-analysis

DLSS upscales games using AI tech for games running at lower resolutions to look near identical to higher resolutions. So basically you can play a game at 4k with a significantly less performance cost which means you can use more demanding ray tracing settings or whatever instead. It gives the card a longer life than it otherwise would have and lets them punch above their weight and it's exclusive to RTX NVIDIA cards. Don't think AMD has an equivalent yet and when they do it'll probably be in their next line-up.

Then I'd still go with the AMD, and neither of these rigs are going to handle 4k well if you want high+ settings.

That or wait for the new hardware releasing later in the summer.
