Those 34 people are a serious loss, but I think Australia is going pretty good compared to a lot of other nations around the world. We're gonna be okay.

This site is like one big PnPRPG. Sometimes it's fun to be the good guy, sometimes it's fun to be the bad guy.
Don't be offended if I'm surly, I just hate you.

Most of our population is gathered in the south-eastern quadrant (Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne). Also, the idiot in charge right now (Scott Morrison) didn't take it seriously enough until like late March; see the Ruby Princess debacle (a cruise ship that was allowed to let down passengers in Sydney for some reason and now has 600+ cases linked to it, now they're launching a criminal investigation into it) and his constant waffling about when it came to shutdowns and the like, which caused other to not take things seriously (mostly rich snobs/tourists/backpackers along the coast, especially here in Sydney).

We were actually doing fairly well until mid-March, when cases spiked; most of our (non-cruise) cases are connected to travel from the US (so yes, Trump's god-awful handling of the crisis is partially responsible for ours) and to a lesser extent Iran and Europe.

Also, we're entering flu season (get vaccinated, people) and that could put even more stress on our system due to shared symptoms and people flocking for testing. But it's also possible that our flu season may be milder than usual since most people are distancing/isolating.
