Just settling into that comfort zone of stuff you cherish and go no further forward.

Everyone eventually hits that wall (it's why dad rock is dad rock), probably in conjunction with the sentiment that the music of today is "just noise".

A couple years ago. I was stuck in a 70s rock, 80s electronics, 90s/early 2000s pop rut.

Subscribed to Apple Music and now I get new songs on a couple playlists. New hip hop, new synth, and new etc.

About 10-12 years ago. Now it's just an off chance that I might find something when watching YouTube videos.

I'm still finding new music that I like. It tends to fall in the same genre, but I still find new artists.

I still keep finding new tracks , but one thing changed .... all the new songs that I love are from artists that create music for anime . Most of those artists don't have much , sometimes just couple of songs and they don't seek to make something just to fill the gap. Also love music from James Newton Howard , when in cinema mode or full surround sound , oh really good . Now and then VAV kpop is the jam I want to hear , lol
Loyal to Green Day , they are the best rock band ever walking on earth .

My musically driven friend (whom I think verges into the realm of "snob" but he refuses to admit it) says they "sold out" along with about every other band you could name and that their music became "corporate".

There's some merit to the thinking but it's like there's no accounting for taste with him either.

This. I got XM Radio back then, and just started listening to nothing but 80s and 90s stuff. Even after I got rid of XM, I mostly just stuck to only listening to stuff I already know when looking up music online, because by then I'd gotten out of the habit of listening to new stuff.

I occasionally accidentally stumble across new stuff in various ways - YouTube recommends things, I hear a song in some other form of media (games, movies, etc), I catch something on the radio - but I'm generally way out of touch with what "the kids today" are listening to.

And when I do hear something the kids today are listening to, it usually makes me think the kids today have shit taste in music. So I've officially become old.

Of course, I officially became old and curmudgeonly in the early 1990s, so this isn't news.

This. I'm the type who finds an artist they like and checks out everything they've ever done. I'll still look for other artists, but not specifically new; just new to me.

I'm a musician, I have an obligation to myself and my craft to continue learning about it and discovering new things. Finding new music or old music that I missed is a big hobby of mine. Technically, as long as I'm still writing songs, I'll always be discovering new music for the rest of my life.

I haven't. I listen to punk and there's still like hundreds of bands through the various subgenres i haven't checked out. I've slowed but i haven't stopped and i hope i never will. Such a diverse genre even if i stopped today with all the music i have id me missing out on a ton.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.
