The iPhone 6 still feels like a good phone but since its release the 7, 8, was there even an iPhone 9 and then the X series. And the + size version of each of those. It just feels like it would be smarter to have spaced them all out seeing as most people I know are still using the 6 and 7.

I don't really care tbh.

I only buy phones every few years or if one breaks, and even then I won't buy the newest model

They come out with a new phone once a year, and usually it is 2 years between different models (iPhone 7, then iPhone 7s the next year for example)

How many Samsung Galaxy phones are there now? Are they really on model 20 already?

Last October, I got an Iphone 6sPlus, my first smartphone. I like the size, big but not too big. I don't need anything more.

I guess that samsung point is true. It just feels that since the iphone6 is still current with the software it doesnt feel right to me that they released so many in what feels like a short time. From a business standpoint wouldn't it make more sense to wait for the hype of your current phone to slow into a lull and then release the new goodies you have. Like right after the 8 was released you had the X series come out.

Where was number 9?!? And then what was the point in releasing the 8 at all?? None of it makes sense to me

They made the iPhone X because it was the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. So they released the 8 and X at that year and skipped 9.

Yeah its stupid and I don't know why they did that.

Yeah, but nobody is forcing me to buy a phone every year so whatever.

What it does though is a net positive because those that are willing to buy the latest tech help build up the supply chain for new chips and hardware, pushing the cost down for the rest of everyone else that decides to not buy every single year when it inevitably trickles down.

This. They're killing the environment by doing so too.

They keep releasing phones annually because the competition keeps releasing phones. If they waited 2 years some people will go out and buy the new Galaxy phone instead if they want the latest and greatest.

And the iPhone X wasn't the followup to the iPhone 8. They were released around the same time with the iPhone 8 being the mid-range model. It was the same deal when the iPhone XR and XS were released around the same time and the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro were released at the same time.

Apple and other OEMs would quickly fall behind if they didn't release a flagship device every year. These manufacturers are all trying to outdo each other so it would be prudent to keep up with the Joneses and stay competitive.

That iPhone 6 may suit you fine, but it is ancient and thus lacking in comparison to current flagships (chief among them will be camera performance).
