I am of the belief that an early weak strain of covid made its rounds in january. I know alot of people that had a similar timeline of illness.

I've heard that more than a few times but there's really no way to know. I got my ass handed to me in January and probably should have went to the hospital. Back pain, fatigue, exhaustion, hard to find my breath, fever, the works.

A guy at work who is usually never sick missed a week of work in mid February because of what seemed to be a really bad cold or flu. I talked to him the last day he came in when he was obviously sick and I never caught anything from it.

No way to know, but I went to Disney World for five days over New Years, got married, went on a five day cruise, then went back to Disney for five more days...I had what I figured was the flu (fever, chills, cough but with raspy breath/trouble breathing) for the entire cruise (started 6 days after I got off the plane in Orlando) and and was completely dead to the world for most of the end of the trip (about 10 days).

Disney World was easily the largest and most diverse crowd I've ever been in. Everyone in our wedding party got the same bug too. I've seen several people on reddit describe the exact same symptoms who were at Disney at the same time. It may be a giant coincidence but without antibody testing I'll never know

Yeah I did have a 1-2 day flu actually at that time. I thought it was a normal flu and I fought it off quickly because I was vaccinated or something. You have any more information on this?

Maybe I'm just dumb here but if that were to be the case then that means that the virus quickly mutated and wouldn't that mean that you're susceptible of getting it again?

I did!

I had a bad fever Feb 1. Aches, chills, extreme fatigue where I was too weak to get out of bed, could barely walk. I had diarrhea as well which is uncommon with the flu, but in 50% of COVID cases. Runny nose, some coughing. All the signs of COVID. I was really scared at the time as I've never felt so sick in my life, I actually cried at one point as I thought something was seriously wrong.

I went to the doctor and got tested for every infectious disease and got a chest X-Ray and everything came back negative. All my dr said was he thought it was viral, and he asked if I had been to China which I hadn't. It didn't cross my mind that it could be COVID-19 but now I'm almost certain it was. My family member who took me to the doctor got sick the next day with the same symptoms and had a dry cough for weeks. We both think it was COVID-19.

Well, it is the flu season. People usually do catch something or get sick around that time every year. Most likely it was the flu or common cold.

OR maybe.......China could be on to something when they say the corona virus originated in the USA back in December and it got spread to them..... maybe

For sure. I live in LA, so its a major city with tons of tourism etc. Millions of people coming in and out every day. I have a hard time believing it just stayed contained in one spot on the planet when we have thousands of flights a day all over the world. Especially with the fact that we know now people can spread the virus while being asymptomatic, it definitely was here for a while. On top for the fact we've only truly begun testing in earnest now.

Also, just because it was first identified late last year doesn't mean thats when the virus first began infecting people. It could have and most likely had been around for some time before the medical community was able to identify it as a new virus

I got super sick last October, and I'm normally a healthy guy. My boyfriend's convinced I had an early strain of Coronavirus, but I'm pretty sure it was just a bad flu; it happened on my last day at Disneyland, after all.

i was so fucked up in january i could barely breathe and felt like i had acid in my lungs and it was timed to have been a few days out from a flight so while i wasn't licking any toilet seats i'd say there's a good chance i picked up the rona.

In early January 1 i went into work at 7 AM as per usual and by noon I felt like I was getting sick but figured it was just a cold or something, by 3 I actually started feeling pretty sick and fatigued with a fairly sore throat, ended up calling off work the next day and my normal 2 days off afterwards feeling pretty sick/flu like but I was ok after with lost of rest and gatorade. Early February rolls around and I start to feel the same as early January except this time I just decide to go to bed super early and try to sleep it off since it just feels like another cold and I have 5 days off after tomorrow so it's no big deal. Wake up the next day with the worst body aches I've ever felt in my life, my sheets are soaked and my pillowcase is almost soaking wet from cold sweats - this also has me waking up with chills, assuming I had a fever but I didnt have a thermometer that worked so who knows. I work my entire 12 hour shift feeling like I have a massive hangover and I looked like a withdrawing addict with my constant cold sweats. I finally get home, sleep for like 13 hours and feel like total shit for 3 days after with incremental improvement over the next 2 weeks or so plus a horrid sounding productive cough that had me coughing up shamrock shaped green shit every 10 minutes, fucking gross. I rarely get hardcore sick and that was probably the worst illness I can remember having since I had a week long case of chicken pox in like 4th grade or some shit. I found out later that like 8 or 9 of my coworkers all had the same thing and we all seemed to have the same symptoms. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it was the roni but who knows - probably unlikely. Hopefully it was though so I have some antibodies at least.

I had some weird stomach thing going on late Dec into early Jan.

My stomach hurt and doing number two was a pain. It was like I was constipated, but when it did come out it burned. I know gross details. Later on I developed breathing problems. It felt like when your nose gets filled with mucus and you could only breathe out of one nostril. The only thing was that there was nothing to blow. I was just short of breath. Those are the only two symptoms I had. No fever and no cough. My stomach and breathing problems lasted 3 weeks before everything returned to normal. I still have no idea what it was.

Winter colds are pretty common and the flu was pretty bad this year. I didn't get a winter cold this year but I do just about every other one

I think some of you are being slightly paranoid but I could be wrong. They will if probably be able to test you for antibodies once the medical system isn't flooded with patients

Late January and feb my brother and I had body aches and this weird uncontrollable chills. Like we weren't even cold. It was almost involuntary. I think some report that with covid.

Idk something feels fishy with this illness. It's not fake obviously but I just feel like there's other factors behind it.

Yes, and it went around at work. I was out a weekend and a couple of days. That said it was unlikely to be COVID seeing how the first confirmed case in our area was someone who had travelled and there haven't been that many cases here.
