As for me, I prefer at-home workouts. I feel not as comfortable at a gym anyways.

I've been consistently sticking to 1950 for about 2 weeks now, which is a big enough deficit for me to lose 2lbs per week when combined with my activity. I haven't weighed myself and probably won't until the end of the month, but I'm adjusting to this amount quite well. I have been able to do everything with plenty of energy to spare.

Week 1 of May avg (includes May 1st which was part of the April avg + it for my challenge avg):

Bad news, scale has dead batteries. We had pork steak, and I have no idea how much it was.

I had some shrimp for 400 calories and a single pizza roll for 36. Also had fries and ketchup for 240.

676 right there. Now, I don't think the pork steak was more than 600 calories, but I have no proof. I'm having another tomorrow, so same issue will be present unfortunately.

Almost forgot to post in this to keep from dying. Best guess for pork steak is that they are 480 calories with 70 oz of sauce.

Hopefully, my dad is going to pick up a battery for the scale today, we are having pork loin which is pretty low-fat and low in calories along with green beans and corn. Had half a shrimp ring for 120 calories already.

Been pretty bad lately, so I think I'm going to be a little more tight about calories. Think I've had too many crackers too, so I'm going to find an alternative snack.

A lot of times, I just find something else to occupy my mind. I like to speedrun, so my mind just focuses on the game instead.

Although, today, I had ribs and my mom really wanted me to eat shrimp and shrimp wontons with her. It was a lot. Going to have to take that away over a period of days.

I wish I could offer advice, but we are all different. I had a huge soda addiction where I needed 2-3 bottles of coke a day to feel complete, but I went cold turkey beginning April 2nd, and didn't have anything for a whole month. Now, I have had 2 cans of soda and 1 glass the entire month; I just no longer feel like I have to have it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not perfect, yesterday was probably the first official "pig-out" day I've had since I started. Couldn't help myself, but I like to believe weight loss isn't decided by any one day of eating better or worse.

I think what helps is to have a goal that is reasonable, realistic, and finite. What I mean by the last one is, too many people go into these things thinking "for the rest of my life" but for 99% of us, the rest of our lives is too long to decide to make a timeframe. When I did the no-soda challenge, I didn't say "for the rest of my life" because I knew there was no way I was going to refrain from soda for the rest of my life. I made it one month because I knew that was actually obtainable. And by not drinking soda, I finally removed soda from being a necessary habit. I trained my body to feel like it doesn't need soda. I'm not saying I won't reach a point where I get back on soda, college could easily ruin what I worked on, but now I know a solution.

I also think having a number like what I do (1100-1300) calories is good because it gives me a target. It goes beyond "eat less" but actually puts a goal to it. All our numbers can be different, but by having an actual number, we have something to work towards.

That is about all the advice I can personally give. I do wish you luck in finding a solution that works for you!

I went 1100 calories over on Thursday lmao. My sister brought me some badass lemon bars as a late late birthday present and I just went fucking wild on them.

Got back on top of things today (well, Friday). Stayed at my 1950 limit and got in two workouts, one of them being pretty damn intense. I'm only over by 250 calories for the week - still in enough of a deficit to see weight loss - so I'm not that worried about it. Before, I'd have let that spiral out of control for weeks and maybe even months but this was just a little hiccup that I'm already over.

I'm recovering from 25 years of dealing with binge eating disorder and have had to work through a lot of food addiction problems. I can't say what the case may be for you but I had to figure out the emotional eating aspect as well as simple causes like boredom, confusing thirst or tiredness for hunger, etc.

Ultimately, what I've come to find works best for me is one big meal (I'm talking 900-1200 calories) and one regular size meal of 500-700 and snacks to fill out the rest, if anything is left. That way, I still get that "high" of looking at a big ass plate of food and pigging out but ultimately, it's not going to set me back. I also eat larger volumes of lower calorie foods, which helps.

It's obviously not a perfect science, considering I ate a whole pan of lemon bars in one sitting, but that doesn't happen often anymore and I can deal with it much better. Upon reflecting, I also realized that was just a different kind of emotional eating: for once, I was eating positive emotions. That's not something I'm used to doing but it ultimately still had the same effect and I'll have to be on my toes about it.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Yeah, you may have to get to the root of some things along the way.

That's a really good idea. Something I've learned to be mindful of from my time in various weight loss circles is that nobody just loses all the weight at once. "I didn't lose 300lbs, I lost 1lb 300 times" is a sentiment you'll encounter a lot and it's true. I've lost 130+lbs across 2.5 years and usually in sporadic bursts like the one I'm in right now. The rest of the time, I might lose some of it but it's just maintaining.

Using a total daily energy expenditure calculator or something like cronometer or myfitnesspal can help you figure out your maintenance calories. Try sticking to that for a while. Then, when you're more comfortable and accustomed to tracking calories, figure out a modest deficit and give that a go.

Falling back on my maintenance calories has been an invaluable tool for me in weight loss because being in a deficit all the time gets tiresome. It's nice to be able to just say "eh, fuck it" and not gain weight for it.

I made some breadsticks and marinara sauce myself from scratch. It was supposed to be like Little Caesars' Crazy Combo, where I know the breadsticks are reportedly 120 calories a stick. When I first did it, I calculated the total calories of a full batch (18 sticks), and divided by 18 to get 124 calories, so pretty darn close. They probably round down a little. Same for the sauce too.

Today, I had 4 sticks (496), 6 raviolis (300), and 3/16 cups of marinara sauce (36) for a total of 832 calories. Keep in mind, the sticks were not even in size, so it could vary one way or the other, but not by too significant of an amount.

While it is definitely harder to find out based on the fact that someone else made it, you can always look at the calories found on each individual ingredient used, and estimate based on how much of each was used. You will find many of the spices are practically 0 in calories, so even if you don't know if she used 1/2 a teaspoon of salt, or 3 cups of salt (exaggeration of course), that shouldn't be as big of a factor in terms of calories (although salt has its own health risks of course) as the things like cheese, flour, toppings, and sauce would have.

At least you found some sort of comparison as a way of knowing where you are!

Today, I had a pork loin meal with the loin, corn, and green beans for 300 calories. Additionally, I had half a totintos (350) and a Sunkist can of soda (160) bringing my total up to 810 calories.

My dad went to the gas station, and I was extremely tempted to get a 44 oz polar pop, but I refrained because of the Sunkist. If I didn't drink that, and was at 650 calories, I think I would have been 632 calories under 3,000 calories over 3 days. It felt really tempting, but I didn't do it. Might get a polar pop at some point, maybe make it for a very special occasion, but I don't want to make polar pops a norm. My family isn't really supportive of me, but I try to ignore it all the same.

and then my mom got Chilis and I ate the whole bag of chips and salsa. I couldn't resist!!! Would go on a short one-day extreme reduced calorie intake session, but we are having pulled pork sandwiches tomorrow.

I plan on making up for it on Monday. I weighed myself before I indulged myself in chips, about to pass a major milestone for me personally.

Bad and good news:

My 5 year old sister wanted dominos for some reason, so we got two medium pizzas and 16 parm bites. I ate 5 slices of double pepperoni and a good amount of parm bites. I am so weak for pizza.

Good news is that I weighed myself right before eating that big meal, and weighed less than what my license says I weigh (yeah, I lie, can't help it).

Throughout all of this, I really do miss eating like a true pig, I ate 5 slices of a medium pizza, and it felt so gooood. Before, given the option, I'd eat at least 6 of a large if I could sneak in 6. I will say, after eating that, I felt a little sick. Maybe my stomach is finally getting adjusted to my normal meals. Additionally, I really want chocolate now because my mom keeps buying chocolate items. Almost broke a few days ago because my mom was this close to convincing me, but then I had a dream I ate an ice-cream sandwich, and felt extremely disappointed in myself. When I woke up, that convinced me to ride out the remaining days, which is 11 in a few hours.

Had 380 of bagel bites. Then 450 of this one pizza. Finally 140 of a coke and 500 of taquitos. The 640 were part of a board game snack I had with my dad. Don't regret it.

I lost 11lbs in May.

That's a little more than I intended to lose (slow weight loss has been the ticket for me) but I'll take it. I'm sure there's water weight and other non-fat loss components in that 11lbs.

Feels good though. I've been kind of worried about the slowing down of weight loss as one gets slimmer but this was fairly easy and uneventful. Just burn more than I eat and the rest takes care of itself. Same as it was in the beginning, same as it will be when I hit my next goal.

I lost 8, bringing my total to 27 pounds. I don't mind this rate of weight loss. I plan on going back on a no soda thing for a couple of weeks soon.
