Can sell 80 hours back for a paycheck.

One sells back all of his vacation, getting an extra 2ish paychecks a year.

One sells back 1 paycheck worth of vacation a year and takes random days off.

One sells back (Some years) but usually keeps his vacation to 1-2 days max. Hell even come into work on his vacation to do work but saying hes on vacation so doesnt deal with the daily junk. He took a full 5 day vacation and colleagues spent all week complaining about it.

I use my vacation 5 days in a row to include the weekend and feel well judged for it. Only the employees below us (and the lazy ones above us, actually) do that.

So many well compensated salary workers are commonly okay to just giving up their life to do busywork for the office. Even if promotion opportunities or bonus opportunities are not available. I feel the culture in my field causes this to be a bigger problem than in other fields.

Fuck that, I take my 80 hours off every year and don't feel bad about it. Relaxing and unwinding is important

Friend of mine works for Panasonic as an electric engineering. He rarely takes vacation days and he isn't allowed to cash in on his vacation days either so he randomly takes off days here and there to avoid them going to waste.

My company doesn't allow you to cash in vacation days either so years ago when an coworker was leaving for grad school, he used 1-2 weeks of his remaining vacation days prior to leaving the company.

A coworker did that once. Took a week off but continued to come in to work just so nobody would bother him.

I get that vibe sometimes with certain coworkers/managers but I think that just goes to show how dependent some folks are on those individuals. My manager is encouraging me to stand on my end and be capable of responding to client's questions without second guessing myself. Part of this is to help me "grow up" within my line-of-work but also so I am less reliant on him to deal with clients.

Wish I got the option. I usually have 3 weeks of pto + more sick time than I'll ever use.

Some times I want all the days, other times, I'd prefer to be able to liquidate it.

One thing Wal-Mart used to do that I thought was a great idea to incentivise people to not call in ,unless they were actually sick, was once you reached your sick pay cap, it would start to accumulate at vacation time at a reduced rate. Nice way to reward associates that didn't call in all the time.

I work in a manufacturing facility , and we get paid for any unused personal time at the end of our personal calendar year. Also we get a perfect attendance bonus quarterly for not using personal time.

Our vacation time increases with certain anniversary milestones (2 weeks after 3 yrs, 3 after 9 , 4 after 15).

While most use all their vacation time except for a day or two for an unexpected emergency, it usually at the extremes for how people use their personal hours.

Either they take everything or they try not to use any to get the additional bonus money.

And a fair number of those that use all personal time frequently time out and get fired. It did help a little when management increased the time new hires were allotted due to the high turnover during an employee's first year.

Wish I had the option to sell time back, I can only carry 40 hours over to the next year so I'm always scrambling to take time towards the end of the year to avoid losing it. (Mostly because my boss nags me about losing vacation time.)

I got like a double paycheck when I sold all my leave time at the job I dont work at anymore. And that was on top of my last paycheck. It was a nice littler haul. I dont know how it works where I am now. Because its slightly different from when I was active. But I can easily rack up a bunch of time off just to have extra days off and stuff...
