Right because wanting us to not have to spend too much of our lives trapped in our homes and trying to preserve jobs, industries, retirements funds, and more for when this is over means "they don't care about people".

If a large amount of people get sick and/or die all at once, it'll do a fuckload of damage to our economy.

maybe if they feel this way, they should stop going "just the flu bro", stop citing death rates of things that don't exponentially grow and aren't contagious, stop downplaying the numbers at literally every turn possible, stop calling the death rate a hoax, etc

you know, things that, when told to their follower base, make the crisis worse, worsening the economic impact of said crisis

This entire debacle has made me realize that, as bad as Trump is, the response to this could actually be way, way worse. He at least knows action has to be taken in order for him to preserve credibility. That's motivation enough to backtrack stupid ideas (like saying "we'll open up on easter.")

Sure, he's largely at fault since action wasn't immediately taken when the USA had its first case like it was in SK, but at least something is being done. If we were run by conservative demagogues who are actually just insane, nothing would be getting done, ever.
