But south east asian doctors say otherwise. They say even surgical masks is proven effective to reduce transmission and spread.
They think it's a cultural thing for western countries to not wear masks, but also that masks are in short supply and prioritized to health care professionals

It doesn't help to protect you, but it will help you stop transmitting whatever you have unto others.

I will say that here in the US, I haven't seen a single person wear a facemask until the COVID-19 outbreak, but now everyone is wearing them.

DISCLAIMER - To the tsundere moderator giving me moderations and screaming at me because things are "sweeping generalizations", my following statement does not generalize ALL of the specific population of the WHO I am going to refer to, just many or several of them. P.S. Veggies are part of a healthy diet, wash your hands to stave off the new pandemic.

I feel that the WHO is saying that because they want the masks to go to the health professionals and there are only so many to go around. So yes, it's a calculated lie.

Makes no sense to me that it has no benefit as long as you aren't fucking with it all the time. So I call bs

idk how people can say otherwise, like yeah the mask doesn't fully protect you but more resistance to the virus is better than nothing. >_>

I mean, it was even in the news, a Target was selling the masks and the govt went like HURR DURR THOSE R FOR DOCTORS! And seized them

I will say that here in the US, I haven't seen a single person wear a facemask until the COVID-19 outbreak, but now everyone is wearing them.

Asians in the u.s. wear masks more than any other demographic population. Yes it it's true that it doesn't prevent you from getting a disease entirely(eyes have mucous membranes) but it does cover your mouth and nose which are the most common ways of getting it. Will help even if people sneeze and cough at you, though not 100% preventable, especially if recurved close in aerosal fashion.
