I've never played Jade Empire, but it's a turn based strategy RPG game. It's closer to Final Fantasy Tactics then anything. I found it extremely fun but hard to get into for some reason.

doesn't it have exploration and rpg elements? Maybe like KOTOR?

A lot like KOTOR. A lot of RPG and exploration. Isometric top down combat that I found really fun to experiment with. (afflicting a bunch of enemies with a low level wet status effect and then shocking one of them with a shocking grasp was a fave tactic I liked using)

Lots of different classes and character combinations to go with too.

Probably the PC game Ive played the most of over the past couple years. Super fun if you have a couple friends to play through with you. If not, its still a great experience playing through on your own.

I didn't really like it. I haven't played Diablo 3 or Jade Empire. I found the combat too tedious and disliked how random all the loot, and store stock was.

It's fantastic

TC, it's kind of like Xcom mixed with Dungeons and Dragons. Many ways to do different things. Like if the ground is on fire from an explosion you can put it out with water, but that also makes smoke so it's harder to hit people covered in the smoke. You can move objects around, position your people around the map for an ambush before they spot you, ect. Just watch a YouTube video of the Tutorial or something

DOS2 is pretty simple to understand once you get an idea of how all the different elements can interact with each other, like Bad Mojo went over in an earlier post.

The game is way better than poe imo. DOS2 is top 3 for the entire decade for me. I couldnt finish poe

Its more like a turn based Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Pillars of Eternity etc

And yes the combat is way better
