I do not trust any numbers coming out of China.

They (i.e. the government) actively worked to suppress warnings about the emergence and development of this virus and their supporters are still trying to shame people from even bringing it up for discussion.

On the one hand, it's really easy to say "China is a lying dictatorship they're just concealing the numbers!!"

On the other hand, it's been reported that they posted armed police and service members outside quarantined apartments to keep people in, and their video surveillance system is so highly developed that they can track down and detain anyone who is suspected of violating the quarantine. So... I mean with measures like that it's somewhat believable that they got it to stop spreading.

yeah, that's the worrisome thing. The US doesn't have the same level of draconian measures China could impose. Neither do we see the US in a state of lockdown, despite numbers being more than Italy now.

Despite all the hate China has received recently I cant help but doubt the numbers.

I mean hell, imagine if all our reports went through trump and it was up to him to release the numbers. He would claim we have maybe 50 cases at best and then claim we have the best Coronavirus.

In some neighborhoods they were wielding shut peoples homes to keep them from leaving.

While I dont believe the Chinese governments numbers I cant totally write it off because of the extreme measures theyve been taking.

The Chinese regime requires all Chinese to use their cellphones to generate a health code. Only with a green health code are Chinese allowed to move in China now. Its impossible for a person to cancel his cellphone.
China introduced mandatory facial scans on Dec. 1, 2019, to confirm the identity of the person who registered the phone. As early as Sept. 1, 2010, China required all cellphone users to register phones with their real identification, by which the state can control peoples speech via its large-scale monitoring system.
Furthermore, Chinese peoples bank accounts and social security accounts are bundled with their cellphone plans; apps on Chinese phones check SIM cards against the states database to make sure the number belongs to the user.
