Also, LTG got filtered by the first jump segment in the game. The part where you exit the underground train station and have to jump across that huge gap in the beginning of the game. He also took some time to figure out that you had to punch the block then jump on it within the first 10 minutes as well. LTG is trash at video games. He even asked if Doom was "fake Gears of War" lmao

I'm personally not a fan of some of these ultra-challenge games.

I like a challenging game with tight movement, resilient enemies, and dodging/firing patterns.

But games that do this while withholding information to the player are just hiding poor design behind the desire for challenges.

It's the difference between a game like Binding of Isaac and Dark Souls. Both are difficult, but Isaac doesn't hide enemies, terrain, or hazards from the player. Everything is clearly presented in front of the player and it's up to them to figure out how to navigate the room while defeating enemies.

My first experience with Dark Souls was awful because it intentionally withholds information from the player. It's not a test of reflexes or skill, but a war of attrition and a test of memory. Dark Souls is a Puzzle Game where it takes you 10 minutes to find each piece.

I sort of agree. As long as you're cautious, almost no Souls game is super difficult. Everything that is waiting to ambush you can be detecting before they attack you so long as you're paying close attention to your surroundings.

Obviously you can't see every enemy before battle, that's dumb. You are supposed to be tactical while doing all the fast movement etc. Once you get in the motion of the game it's really fun.

Dark Souls really doesn't do that. It's simply a game that expects you to use caution and pay attention to your surroundings. I've never been killed by something that required a prior death to learn about (except maybe mimics, but bloodstains and hints from other players make those obvious).

idk I love both. Eternal has increased emphasis on exploration and platforming a la Metroid Prime but the fundamentals are still very much the same like in Doom 4.

DSP is just a goddamn clown troll.
