The same way Biden tried to steal Bernie's thunder for the past two weeks in debates by saying that, like bernie, he wants free college for families with incomes less than 125k and other progressive policies.

But this is the same thing Hillary tried to do as well. It doesn't come off as genuine. Only ruling out female candidates on its own sounds suspcious enough in an effort to get the progressive votes from bernie/warren supporters

I get the historical aspect of what you're trying to say, but it still is.

It's the aspect of explicitly stating it that's weird. Like, i fully think you could find someone with the required qualifications in all races and sex, and in the end you'd still get the best qualified person.

There's nothing wrong with a woman running for president or vice president. I can list a couple that I think would make good candidates, including kamela Harris. But when you announce that you are only going to pick a female as runner up instead of the most qualified, regardless of gender, it looks weird, like pandering to minority groups. it's better to keep that to yourself.

And then he blatently tries to go for young voters with the free college and other progressive ideas. He has a history of doing that in the last couple of weeks, like right in front of Bernie Sanders in a debate. "Like Bernie sanders, I believe in a free college, etc." He never had that stance before. No shame.

It's as pandering as hillary did when she tried to take Bernie's base 4 years ago with the same.

aren't VP picks usually pandering? Candidates choose VPs that appeal to voters that they appeal less to as a way of winning them over.
