If you do anything other than cut it all off check some youtube videos. There are some surprisingly good tutorials out there to cut your own hair.

I have one with multiple attachments. 2 different cutting parts (smaller one is for more precision facial hair grooming), a nose/ear part (which I lost) and 2 attachments for the larger trimmer, one for hair, one for beard. It is a Norelco apparently.
