Ive been experiencing body wide pain for a while, along with tingling of my hands and feet at times. The pain can be so bad that I can barely get out of bed on some days. I end up just working from home when I have those flare ups. Initial tests show no autoimmune disease or rheumatoid arthritis. I have had nerve compression in my neck for a while now but my doctor thinks its been fibro thats causing the pain. Before it was mostly in my neck and shoulders but now its my whole body.

He referred me to a rheumatologist for diagnosis. Supposedly one of the best and has treated many fibro patients. I have been waiting for 3 months to see him, but now its looking like hes canceling upcoming appointments. Mine is end of April so Im really hoping I will get to see him.

Today is one of those shitty painful days, so Im kind of grateful were all working from home anyway. But the thought of spending more months in this kind of pain is freaking me out. I know folks have worse out there happening due to this virus, so Im grateful I have a job at all and relatively doing ok.

Just venting.

From what my doctor said it actually tends to develop in your 30s and often takes a while to get diagnosed.

My cousin has it. It started in her early 30's. She manages it with medication she says. Seems to be more prevalent in women than men.

Hopefully you and your doc can find a solution that works for you. Good luck.

I'm sorry, that sucks. I know it can be hard to treat as well. At least you're able to work from home so you can be somewhat more comfortable when it flares up.

Wrong. Studies are coming out that it is quite similar to the underlying factors that cause clinical depression and thus explains why certain antidepressants have shown some measure of success in treating the symptoms.

Dang Cleo, I'm sorry to hear you're in constant pain. Hopefully the doc can get you in and, if that is what you have, start some treatments to help ease the pain. Hang in there!

That's because it is essentially depression.

I was diagnosed with RA at 2. Medicine is so much better than it was 28 years ago, back then they just threw prednisone at me. Now 3 joint replacements later and I havent been on any medication in almost a decade. But the medications that are out there now are fantastic and will really help with the day to day pain.

If you have any concerns or questions let me know!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I am lucky to have a job that is flexible about these kind of things. I really feel for people who dont have the same flexibility and have to deal with health issues.

I dont smoke but Ive tried cbd/thc oils and they do help somewhat. I also have a topical cream. Some days though it does nothing. Last night I was up until 2 am trying to sleep but couldnt because of the pain. None of my creams or oils helped.
