Season 8 is alright, it's not great but one season just isn't enough time to settle a new cast into a show that had the expectations built from the first run being one of the best shows ever.

Season 8 is actually season 1 of a spin off that ABC was too cowardly to rebrand. It's actually pretty damn good imo, just don't think of it as Scrubs season 8 but like Scrubs Next Generation

It's pretty good. Definitely suffers from flanderization but my main gripe towards the back half of the show is instead of one big episode, it was 2 or 3 smaller episodes for more character interplay, but the overlap between those 2 or 3 stories was woefully redundant. I loved the integration of pop music it in.

Oh, and JD is a petulant manchild who should never be celebrated. He's Ted from HIMYM-lite.

Still, my favorite moments are probably:

- JD/Blonde nurse sex scene when she's just casually staying over as "Up in my Lonely room" jams
- Cute patient dies and sing's "Waiting for my real life to begin"

You're right, I saw somebody complain about season 8 above and didn't think about how many seasons there were. I never see people saying that the final season of the original format was bad, it's always the new format season.

Yeah, it was probably just too early for my humor detectors to be fully functioning, I took it as a contrarian defense of the actual last season followed by a comment about it getting an undeserved amount of hate.

I'd say that I'm probably about due for another watch since I didn't immediately remember how many seasons there were.

Scrubs is incredible. Heart felt, funny, captivating. One of the GREAT sitcoms of our time.

My gf jokingly compared it to The Office, in terms of being able to replay it, and I gotta say she was right. After a few binge watches with her, I've gotta say now I'm hooked.

The final season had some of the best episodes of the show wtf

The one where JD and Turk have steak night or whatever with the dying guy was 10/10 and of course the whole finale was great

Can't think of any other sitcom that has such consistently great guest/special guest characters.

I also read that it's supposed to be one of the most medically accurate shows in TV. Moreso than ER and Grey's Anatomy.

Make sure you watch it with the original music. In some of the streaming versions they cut out all the music they used because of copyright BS. Like there is this part where he does a fantasy about like a bunch of ninjas showing up and then beating them up, and it was set to Kung-Fu Fighting, but I remember seeing it on Netflix or something and it just played generic Asian sounding music.

JD can be good or terrible depending on the episode
elliot is much like JD in she can be good or awful depending on the episode
carla is ok but if she isnt being sarcastic to her friends she isnt being funny

jordan is the best female character

I'm rewatching the show, currently on Season 1.

That factoid I learned about the janitor originally supposed to be a figment of JD's imagination is pretty prevalent now that I'm watching the season with that knowledge. Other than one scene where the janitor is standing next to a another guy and telling him "That's him" while pointing at JD, no one else interacts with the janitor in Season 1 except for JD. And even then, JD could have made up the second guy, too. Though I do like how they changed it up Season 2 onwards, as his interactions with the other cast members were excellent.

Also, JD was definitely more grounded and level-headed in the first season. It was everyone else (except for Elliot and JD) that were jerks all the time. I guess JD just got progressively worse in later seasons.

I like JD as a character if not as a person. There's this stigma that the protagonist has to be someone consistently likable, someone you should root for. It's similar to why certain people never stopped rooting for Walter White no matter how awful he became, because a few key scenes early in the show won you over to his side.

Bill Lawrence (the creator of Scrubs) stated that his intent with the show was to create a sort of live-action Simpsons. If you subscribe to that notion, then it's easier to accept JD as this show's Homer; a selfish, oblivious user of those around him, but not without endearing qualities and flashes of growth and maturity.

I started rewatching on Hulu last week. Midway through season two now, forgot how great the show was. So far the changed music hasn't impacted it as much as I thought it would.

so in season 1 elliot had an interaction with the janitor which was probably a mistake on the writers part cause it hurts the janitor is a figment of imagination plan

I rewatched it this last year and loved it. I think its my 3rd full watch through. Scrubs definitely has some hard hitting emotional episodes that I love but it takes more out of you. My lunch is probably the best. Its the one where Doctor Cox loses all his patients and goes into a deep depression.

Thanks, I knew he interacted with Elliot in S1, and it was bugging me that I couldn't remember what scene it was.

He also interacts with Laverne by teasing her with the vacuum cleaner while JD and Elliot are watching.

true. it tends to be a thing more with US comedies, compared to UK comedies where the main characters are just awful people, and the comedy comes from bad things happening to them.
