When I was in high school I had to read one of his plays. I am fairly certain it was Julius Caesar because I remember a character named Antony. Anyway, there was a line where someone, maybe a king, was talking about losing his love. The line was something along the lines of, the pleasure of having her is none, but the pain of losing her would be everything.
Does this ring a bell? Id like to know the proper quote and background behind it. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I took her by the hand to say
All faith forever has been washed away I returned for you in great dismay Come with me, far away to stay Endlessly gazing in nocturnal prime She spoke of her vices and broke the rhyme But baffled herself with the final line My promise is made but my heart is thine --- God is not preparing you for anything, you are just suffering ... Might be a passage in Antony and Cleopatra? When Antony learns of Fulvia's death (Act 1 Scene 1) what he says is not entirely dissimilar in meaning (particularly the bold), albeit with different emphasis:
There's a great spirit gone! Thus did I desire it: What our contempt doth often hurl from us, We wish it ours again; the present pleasure, By revolution lowering, does become The opposite of itself: she's good, being gone; The hand could pluck her back that shoved her on. I must from this enchanting queen break off: Ten thousand harms, more than the ills I know, My idleness doth hatch. How now!
